East Ayrshire Carers' Centre held its annual Burns lunch last week at the Howard Centre in Kilmarnock.

Over seventy carers and invited guests, including Cathy Jamieson MSP and Councillors Douglas Reid and Willie Coffey, gathered for the special celebration. Entertainment was provided by celebrated local Burns speakers and musicians and everyone enjoyed a delicious traditional Burns' lunch.

The lunch was just part of a series of outings and events designed to give carers of all ages the chance to relax away from their everyday responsibilities of caring for a member of their family.

Provost Stephanie Young, who also attended the lunch, said: "We shouldn't underestimate how demanding the responsibilities of being a carer are. However, thanks to the work of the Carers' Centre, there is help at hand and little breaks like these can make a big difference to the lives of carers."
