By Laura Cotton
VISIONS Leisure Centre in Cumnock are set to make a big splash for Swimathon 2010.
The swimming team have claimed first place in Scotland for the past two years and Manager Adam Taylor hopes to continue their success. Adam said: "We hope to continue our impressive run and have established a good reputation that we want to uphold. We have posted advertisements on the event and leaflets can be found at the front desk for anyone that wants to get involved"
The world's biggest fund-raising swim will be taking place this April at Doon Valley Leisure Centre, Dalmellington and the Council's Leisure Services are looking for local people to take part in this exciting fund-raising opportunity.
There are three distance challenges, 5k, 2.5k and 1.5k, and there are also timed team challenges so there is something on offer for every level of swimmer. There has been a great deal of interest in this event and places are limited.
Councillor Kathy Morrice, Spokesperson for Community Wellbeing said: "Swimathon 2010 is a national event which attracts swimmers the width and length of the country.
"It is a great way of getting fit and also raising money for a very worthwhile charity - Marie Curie Cancer Care. The beginning of the year is a great time to set yourself a big challenge so why not start training today?"
