Police have launched an urgent probe into a spate of high-value lead thefts across Cumnock and Doon Valley.

In the latest incident more than £3,000 of lead was nabbed under the cover of darkness from Dunaskin Heritage Centre, Patna. It follows a similar theft from the roof of Auchinleck Parish Church while a major cable haul worth £4,000 has also been reported stolen from the Barony A Frame.

Officers are not ruling out the idea the thefts could be linked but are now appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.
