Wi-Fi Hotspot Hopes For Village

Comments (0) | Print | Email

A pioneering project in Rankisnton will bring free internet access to all and make it a wireless hot-spot.

The first phase of the scheme organised by the Community Association could be up and running by the end of February - and the whole village could be online by 2011.

The Community group hope to "piggy back" off existing wireless connections in the village centre and spread the signal throughout the village by solar powered "repeaters".

Residents will have access to 10 laptops in the Community centre and people with wireless enabled devices will be able to browse Wikipedia, keep up-to-date with twitter and even shop on-line for free.
