An under-threat voluntary organisation that supports childhood sexual abuse surviors will be helped in applications for funding by East Ayrshire Council.

And a lifeline could come from NHS Ayrshire and Arran who say the needs of survivors of rape and sexual abuse must be addressed - but the charity will have to bid for the money as it goes to tender.

Staff at Kilmarnock based Break The Silence - which has outreach programmes in Cumnock and Doon Valley - could be handed redundancy notices after Christmas as the charity has not secured funding past March 2010.
