A Sanquhar mum says her world was turned upside down during the battle to save her son's local Activity and Resource Centre ARC.

Staff and service users breathed a sigh of relief last Tuesday when Dumfries and Galloway Council dropped their controversial plans to cut ARCs across the region.

Mum, Andrea Thomson from Forsyth Avenue gathered 2,351 signatures of support to save son Lynsey's local ARC in Kirkconnel.

She said: "We're absolutely delighted at the outcome."
