Unrest Over Court Plan

A motion to gather support against the closure of Cumnock District Court has been lodged by Cathy Jamieson.

Meanwhile, East Ayrshire's former Justice Committee Chair, Ian Lyell, stated that some JPs will resign if the move goes ahead.

A stay of execution was granted to Cumnock Court in May following a cross-party support.

But now it is set to close on February 22 next year with buisness transfering to a new Ayr Justice of the Peace Court.
