Axe to Fall on District Court

Cumnock District Court is to close despite overwhelming cross-party political support for its retention.

A stay of execution was granted in May but now the court will close its doors for the last time on February 22 next year with business transferring to Ayr Justice of the Peace Court.

MSP Cathy Jamieson slammed the announcement as "disgraceful" and accused the Scottish Government of cutting costs.
