A big turnout is expected for the important Doon Valley by-election this Thursday (October 1).
Five candidates have been canvassing to secure votes in the countdown to the by-election following the tragic loss of East Ayrshire's only Independent Councillor, Jim Sutherland, In July.

A win for labour could unsettle the minority SNP and Tory coalition. While a win for the latter would strengthen their hold.
