A local singing star is about to become an online sensation.

Nicola Cassells, 19, formerly of Auchinleck but now living in Ayr, has reached the Regional Finals of this year's Open Mic UK competition, and is in the running to secure a recording contract.

But Nicola's vocal talents are also going to be on the internet for all to see, as she has reached the last four in a national competition run by her employers, jewellers H Samuel.

A classically trained singer who specialises in opera, Nicola could be well on her way to becoming the next Sarah Brightman or Katherine Jenkins.
