A major supermarket chain has announced it will be bringing significant investment and jobs to the area.

But they are not opening a new store.

Morrissons have announced a joint venture with the Great Steward of Scotland"s Dumfries House Trust to farm 700 acres on the estate.

The sustainable research farm at Glenside will develop a number of projects focused on animal feeding, housing and welfare. Traditional cattle and sheep breeds will be reared, with the first livestock arriving later in the year.
