Local MSP Cathy Jamieson has given her support to the Anne Frank Trust by signing the Anne Frank Declaration.
Dozens of MSPs took the opportunity to sign the declaration as the Trust visited the Scottish Parliament recently. The declaration was produced to mark the 60th anniversary of the publication of Anne Frank"s diary, and MSPs signed the declaration on 11 June, the day before the 80th anniversary of Anne Frank"s birth.
The Anne Frank Declaration states, I declare that:
* I will stand up for what is right and speak out against what is unfair and wrong
* I will try to defend those who cannot defend themselves
* I will strive for a world in which our differences will make no difference - a world in which everyone is treated fairly and has an equal chance in life.
Offering her support Ms Jamieson said: 'The declaration is an inspiration to us all to work together for an equitable and fairer world, free from prejudice and hatred. It was those aims that inspired me to enter politics, and I was therefore delighted to meet with the Anne Frank Trust and sign up to the declaration.'
