Strathclyde Police is warning motorists to expect significant traffic disruption around Cumnock on Saturday 4th July.
The County Grand Orange Lodge of Ayrshire, Renfrewshire and Argyll will march a route through Cumnock, with the procession expected to be up to one mile long. Around 3,500 people – including 32 bands – will take part in the parade. Significant traffic congestion is anticipated from 11.30am to 1.30pm, and from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. Motorists are advised to avoid the town, particularly those intent on using the A70 through Cumnock.
Superintendent Douglas Robertson said: 'We have been working closely with the event organisers to ensure that any disruption on the day is kept to a minimum.
'However, there will be a considerable impact on traffic in and around Cumnock, and drivers are urged to avoid the town if they can do so. I would urge people to be mindful of the parades or to consider alternative routes for the duration of the marches on this day.'

Wow, never knew this was still alive and kicking in Scotland, good luck with the unemployment situation over there, keep saving as next years walk will be here in no time.
How much did the off licenses lose this time in theft.?
A nice site to see I'm sure, thousands of drunken bigots marching thru the streets of Cumnock !

The Orange Institution was once again in good behavour and a great day was had by everybody.thanks to the police for their assistance and to east ayrshire council and all who came along once again a magic day and we cant wait until the next time, and aye it is a great sight to see.
The litter was picked up in the field once everybody was away, and for the urinating in the street well we see it every weekend around some corner or up somebody's gable end Im sure the police seen to the offenders.
Maybe there were some drunken bigots in the street's but they were'nt with the marchers
Once again thanks to the folk of Cumnock for giving us a great day.

it is disgusting to think that these kind of bigoted, hateful marches are still allowed to take place in this day and age. anyone that says they are not bigoted are obviously lodge members or family & friends of them. they are only allowed to still go ahead because the people who have the authority to stop them are too cowardly to do so.
