One of Cumnock"s most iconic buildings is to be flattened as part of major regeneration work in the town.
Today (Wednesday 20) Councillors were meeting to discuss the £750k funding bid to the Scottish Government to demolish the former picture house.
If successful the money will also be used to carry out much-needed improvement work at the town hall.
The decision marks the end for the much-loved facility first opened in 1913, which was used later as a bingo hall before being closed in 2007.
East Ayrshire Council have stated the site will make way for a new car park.

The Cumnock Picture House played a central role in many children`s lives. The matinee every Saturday morning was attended by a large crowd of youngsters left there by parents doing their Saturday morning shopping. There was a raffle drawn by Mr. Boyle and if you were lucky enough to have the right ticket you were presented with a box full of sweets. There were two categories of seating, the stalls and the balcony. The stalls were known as the flea pit. What a pity the Picture House couldn`t be used again for its original purpose, Cumnock won`t be the same without it
