A potential legal wrangle and Council in-fighting threatened to delay work on Cumnock Town Centre even further.

The controversial £8 million Council office development on the former gasworks site finally got the go ahead last week but only after a modified application was passed. Construction work will now go ahead later this year.

But Spokesperson for Environment and Regeneration, Councillor Jim Buchanan blasted Labour members for what he called delaying tactics - and revealed the Council came moments away from having to appeal its own decision.

Labour Councillors defended their position this week, insisting they were acting on the best interests of the people of Cumnock.
