A new alarm system to help domestic victims could be introduced to the Cumnock and Doon Valley area.

East Ayrshire Council has revealed it is looking into providing alarm system in the homes of women who have been victims of domestic abuse.

A swift response would be assured with direct links to the Risk Management and the Police.

Susanne Russell, co-ordinator of Cumnock and District"s Women"s Aid said: 'Anything that can be done to make women feel safer in their home is fantastic.'

Chris McAleavey, Head of Housing said that if all goes to plan the initiative will begin at the start of the financial year.
