Pupils from Auchinleck Academy have designed a Christmas card to highlight the festive message from the seventy7.org programme. The second year pupils designed Christmas cards around the message '77 per cent of us do not need to drink alcohol to have a good time.'

Dr Maggie Watts, Consultant in Public Health Medicine - NHS Ayrshire & Arran and Chairperson of the seventy7.org Programme group says: "The seventy7.org programme uses information collected from the young teenagers, and aims to dispel some of the myths about what their classmates think about drinking alcohol.

"The Christmas card competition was a fun way to put an important message across - 77 per cent of these young people told us that they do not need to drink alcohol to have a good time."

The winning entry, designed by Natalie Allan, has been professionally produced and will be used as the seventy7.org programme Christmas card. Natalie also received a framed copy of the card and cards to give out to her friends and family.

The programme will now focus on the second message to come out from the findings of the survey - '99 per cent of us drink soft drinks when hanging out with friends'. This message will continue to be delivered both in the school and the wider community until May 2010.
