Jewellery class raise funds for Hollybush

The Supportive Education Beginners Jewellery class at Ayr College raised £200 for The Queen Mother's Ex Servicemen's' Home at Hollybush House with textile poppy brooches.

The group created over one hundred brooches in their Jewellery class and sold them throughout the college and the community to raise the money. Students presented their cheque to John Morris of Hollybush House on Monday 9 November.

Lecturer, Linda McPherson, stated; "We wanted to do our bit for Remembrance Sunday and to raise some funds for a local charity involved with the services. The students worked very hard to create the brooches and staff, students and the public were very generous. Our next project is creating daffodils for Marie Curie Cancer."
