LOCAL fire fighters are offering members of the public the chance to have their homes undergo a free safety check in the build up to Christmas.
Fire officers have warned that the risk of fire and fire injury in the home will increase dramatically during the festive period with alcohol fuelling many incidents.
Consumption of alcohol together with the additional risks from Christmas tree lights, decorations, candles and tea lights means that many households are a high risk of fire during Christmas.
