UNEMPLOYED young people in East Ayrshire have been given a welcome boost after the Scottish Government invested almost 250,0000 in the area in an attempt to tackle its cripplingly high youth unemployment rate.

East Ayrshire Council was handed 248,000 in all to help combat the problem, having already been awarded 720,000 earlier this year.
