Irvine hairdresser Leanne Johnson got to style supermodel Rachel Hunter’s golden locks during her visit to Glasgow in March 2004.

Leanne drew the lucky straw when the American dropped in at the Taylor Ferguson salon in Glasgow on Monday to have her tresses styled.

Irvine Times: Dig

The dream to continue excavating the ancient archaeological site in Dreghorn died in March 2004 after the project ran out of money.

Experts involved in the dig were gutted they failed to come up with the extra £75,000 they needed to continue with the work after they uncovered evidence of early farming settlements from as far back as 3,500BC, as well as rare pottery and stone.

50 luxury homes were set to be built on the site. MP Brian Donohoe was pictured at the dig site.

Irvine Times: CHA

Cunninghame Housing Association chief executive Frank Sweeney took a trip to Greenwood Academy in March 2004 to present the school with a bumper cheque.

The local secondary was delighted to bank £500 after coming first in a technical competition.

Mr Sweeney handed the money over to pupils Cohnen Thompson and Ian Brown pupils, along with headmaster John Adrain, technical teacher Graham Gibson, staff tutor John McPheators and staff tutor in enterprise and education Dom MacIntyre.

Dog enthusiasts descended on Irvine in March 2004  for the annual Clydebank and District Canine Club show.

Hundreds of owners and breeders headed to the Magnum Leisure Centre for the open show, which took place every March.

Irvine Times: model mum

Dreghorn woman Tracy Williams modelled at her first fashion show after being named Ayrshire’s most glamorous mum-to-be in 2004.

Tracy, 29, fought off fierce competition from other local mums to win the modelling stint at the recent Baby Show held in Glasgow SECC.

Irvine Times: Irvine Royal Academy pupils got up close to some birds of prey in 2004

Pupils at Irvine Royal Academy got to meet some extra special visitors in March 2004.

Allan Galloway from World of Wings brought in three birds of prey to put on a special falconry display for S2 and S3 pupils.
