Cumnock Juniors manager, Murdo MacKinnon, has said he feels for his side's supporters after their disappointing derby day defeat to Auchinleck Talbot.

Despite a promising first-half display at Beechwood Park, Nock found themselves 1-0 behind at the break.

Talbot dominated the second half and restricted Cumnock to a few half chances, before the home side pulled away and comfortably won the game 4-0.

MacKinnon said: "I thought we stared the game well and I thought we were half-decent.

"Talbot had some chances on the break and they're very good at that, but I thought we had the better of the opening stages of the game and I'm disappointed with the opening goal.

"Second half we were second best, and I think that tells you where we are.

"The boys have had a bit of praise recently, but it's important not to get carried away."

Cumnock had been sitting third in the Premier Division before the game, but results elsewhere saw them drop to fifth when the dust settled on Saturday's action as MacKinnon's men saw a seven-match unbeaten run brought to an end.

He added: "The supporters will go home really disappointed.

"They've come here with an expectation today and I really feel for them because they'll be going away absolutely gutted.

"Performing for 45 minutes is not good enough. This is a big club and there are people wanting to do well, but that's just not good enough in the second half."
