A girl who died in a fatal crash in New Cumnock on Monday afternoon has been named by police.

Naomi Sarah Ferrans, nine, from New Cumnock, was involved in the incident involving a tractor in the Castle area of New Cumnock on Monday, September 18.

Emergency services raced to the scene after reports of a crash between the girl on her bike and a tractor towing a trailer.

Sadly, Naomi was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are now appealing for information following the tragic incident.

Inspector Craig Beaver of Ayrshire's road policing unit said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Naomi at this difficult time and we ask that their privacy is respected.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident and who hasn’t already spoken to officers to get in touch.

“I would also appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time and who may have dash-cam footage which could assist to contact us.”
