Ayrshire Roads Alliance and North Ayrshire Council will be holding a driver safety event later this month.

The 'Fit for the Road' experienced driver event on will take place on Tuesday, August 22 at The Marine Hotel in Troon.

The event will include presentations from Police Scotland Road Policing, Urquhart Opticians and Scottish Fire and Rescue on driving safety.

Guests can also try the online Highway Code Theory and Hazard Perception tests, test their brake reaction times and visit various information stands.

Also attending will be the Scottish Ambulance Service, Safety Camera Partnership, and South Ayrshire Council Thriving Communities.

Local members of Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Advanced Drivers are also offering the chance to participate in an assessed drive in your own vehicle.

There is normally a charge for this but Ayrshire Roads Alliance and North Ayrshire Council have arranged for a limited number of assessments to be offered on the day for free.

The assessed drives must be booked in advance and you should ensure that your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition; has valid tax, insurance and MOT; and enough fuel/power for a 30-45 minute drive.

Places can be booked for either the morning or afternoon event sessions by visiting the Eventbrite website and typing ‘Fit for the Road’ into the search box.
