Visions Leisure Centre in Cumnock will close temporarily due to Covid concerns in the area.

Visions will close to the public from today, June 23 until July 12 for a 'firebreak' period until concerns surrounding coronavirus cases in the area subside.

Today we reported that Robert Burns Academy will shut early for the summer holidays following a COVID outbreak. Although Visions has had no confirmed Covid cases or contacts from track and trace itself, its close proximity to the school means the centre has taken the decision to shut purely as a precaution.

In a statement posted to Facebook, Chairperson Kaye Hannah said: "As a result of multiple confirmed local cases of COVID particularly affecting the younger generation and school pupils within the local community, also taking into account our close proximity to the Robert Burns Academy and the high proportion of our customers in that age category, a decision has been taken to close Visions Leisure Centre to the public as a precautionary ‘FIREBREAK’ period.

"Visions has had NO CONFIRMED COVID CASES or contacts from test and trace. This record is something we are keen to maintain and is down to the hard work done by our Manager and staff to carry out cleaning protocols, combined with the fantastic cooperation from loyal members and customers to adhere to social distancing measures, wearing masks etc.

"This is purely being done out of concern and as a precaution to protect staff wellbeing & our customers."
