CUMNOCK's first Parkinson's Cafe saw more than 20 people turnout at Netherthird Community Centre on Monday, September 10.

The event was such a success that charity Parkinson's UK have already arranged the next two gatherings on October 22 and November 19.

Parkinson’s UK aim to bring a new style of support for people and families affected by Parkinson’s in Cumnock and across East Ayrshire through their cafés. The café offers an opportunity for people to meet for a chat and also access support in an informal setting.

Volunteer co-ordinator, Gill MacGregor said: “People were really enthusiastic about holding regular gatherings and it’s great that we’ve been able to get dates so quickly. We know that people really value being able to chat with others who are living with the condition and these cafés provide the ideal informal opportunity for folk to get together. There’ll be a wide range of Parkinson’s information available at the cafés including details of the local support that’s available.

“Please come and join us – the cafés are open to everyone with Parkinson’s, their friends, family and carers - you’re guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome.”
