TRAIN services to Glasgow have been suspended due to obstuctions being blown across the line.

Services in Cumnock, Doon Valley and Upper Nithsdale were still running but have all now been cancelled. Trains tarvelling north from Ayr and Kilmarnock have been suspended.

Ticket acceptance is in place on some Stagecoach bus services from Ayrshire to Glasgow.

SEPA have issued a flood warning for Ayrshire and Arran - which includes Cumnock and Doon Valley - while a flood alert is in place for Dumfries and Galloway - which includes Upper Nithsdale and New Cumnock.

A major incident has been declared in Dumfries and Galloway meaning there is a risk to life and a number of people have already been injured by flying debris.

Kelloholm Primary School has been closed due to falling masonry caused by the high winds. The building is set to be inspected and the school will contact parents should the building not be safe to open on Thursday morning.

Parents in Upper Nithsdale are being asked to collect their children from schools after Dumfries and Galloway Virtual Operations Support Team said that they would not be allowed to walk home.

Staff will remain onsite to supervise children until 5pm so they can be picked up.

Residents in Kelloholm have also reported power outages in the area.

Storm Ali is expected to bring winds in excess of 80mph with a Met Office amber be prepared warning in place until 6pm.
