AS part of MSP Jeane Freeman’s busy support team, Tracy Hamilton’s day can be hectic.

She would be forgiven for getting her feet up at the weekend but Tracy did the exact opposite.

Arriving at the source of the River Ayr, near Glenbuck, on a dark rainy Sunday at 4.30am, she was ready for action.

More than 13 hours later, she had negotiated the 44-miles of the River Ayr Walk in aid of Breast Cancer Now Scotland.

As well as the achievement of completing the challenge, she had managed to raise more than £1,000 for the charity.

That was double her original target and made her efforts worthwhile.

Tracy said: “I am glad that I completed the walk after starting at 4.30am at Glenbuck and got to Ayr shore at 5.50pm.

“People have been so amazingly generous in terms of their support and encouragement.

“I’d like to thank each and every person who has made a donation.”

Breast Cancer Now is Scotland’s leading charity dedicated to stopping women dying from breast cancer.

“I’d like to remind Chronicle readers that the earlier breast cancer is diagnosed, the better the chance of successful treatment — so it is so very important to check your breasts regularly, know what is normal for you and visit your GP if there are any changes.

“There is plenty of information on what to look for in terms of signs and symptoms at the charity’s website.

“If in doubt get yourself checked out. It really is that simple,” Tracy added.
