NIAMH Connolly insisted from the start that she wanted all her flowing locks chopped off in aid of Ayrshire Cancer Support at Urban Hair Salon in Auchinleck.
It was in memory of her granny, Molly, who passed away after losing a brave battle with the disease in 2015.
Showing that same courage, the nine-year-old decided that there were to be no half-measures for her Big Haircut.
She is on course to smash her fundraising target of £1,500.
Our photographer Alister Firth was there to capture the moment hair stylist Scott Murray got to work.
Also pictured is Odette Landsburgh from the charity, Niamh’s proud mum Gail as well as friends and family.
