PUPILS from New Cumnock Primary school enjoyed a day out at Greenburn Surface Mine during a recent open day.
The kids were able to see the progress of the restoration works including a pond designed by their classmates.
A spokesperson from Greenburn said: "The open day at Greenburn went very well. The covenanters association along with 26 children from New Cumnock Primary School had a great day viewing the Saltire Land Sculpture that included placing a time capsule in the central stone cairn.
"We then viewed restoration progress including a pond that the school designed three years ago."
