A CUMNOCK teenager said thank you to a specialist hospital team that gave her the gift of life.
Caitlin McGinn celebrated her 18th birthday party recently and used the event to raise funds for Ayrshire Maternity Unit’s Neonatal Unit (NNU).
The kind birthday girl and her friends and family raised £150 on the night with fun party games.
She visited the NNU along with her mum Lisa, to hand over the cheque to Caroline Blake, Clinical Midwife Manager Neonatal Services, who looked after Caitlin when she spent time in the unit when she was first born 18 years ago.
Caroline said: “We are so very touched by this donation and grateful to Caitlin.
“To know that she still thinks about the NNU after all this time is really very special.
“Caitlin has grown in to a lovely young woman, and it was wonderful to see her and her mum when they came to visit.”
Neonatal — which means newborn, or the first 28 days of life — care is given to a baby born premature with a medical condition which needs treatment, or at a low birthweight.
