VANDALS ran amok at an unoccupied pub in Drongan, causing more than £3,000 worth of damage.

They struck at the former Welcome Inn at Littlemill Road in the village which closed down more than a year ago and has lain empty since.

The vandalism, which was discovered on July 2, happened after windows were smashed prior to the premises being ransacked sometime between that day and June 27.

PC Main, U542, at Dalmellington Police Office, is asking anyone with information to contact him.

Meanwhile, children on holiday from school are being urged not to enter empty buildings which can be full of hidden dangers.

Safer Communities Officer, PC Craig Marshall, said: “Youngsters are putting themselves at risk. There are many dangers, the most common is ending up stuck inside.”
