ANDREA STEELE has braved the shave to get the chop for charity.

The Mauchline resident sacrificed her shiny long hair for a sponsored shave in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care.

Her friend, Ruth Smith, volunteered to carry out the task which has raised almost £400 in memory of Andrea’s papa, Donald McKenzie.

Volunteers from Macmillan Cancer cared for Donald and Andrea, along with the rest of her family, are eternally grateful for their dedication.

She said: “ I grew my hair for my wedding, which was on May 18. I was going to have it cut afterwords but remembered reading about Brave The Shave.

“As I was getting it cut anyway, I thought ‘why not?’ and decided to go for it. Most importantly, it was for a good cause.

“I have donated my hair to the Little Princess Trust. A big thank you to everyone who helped me reach, and then beat my target.”
