A BRAZEN thief who stole plants from outside the Baird Institute has still not been traced.

It happened just after 8.30pm on Saturday, June 23, when the man picked up the baskets and plant pots and casually strolled away.

Having been captured on CCTV, police are confident that justice will soon catch up with the culprit — whose actions have infuriated the community.

Fay Rafferty said: “It’s sickening when community minded people put so much time and effort into making their town look nice and then selfish stupid people destroy everything.”

Michael McPake, who donated his own time and money to create the garden, also revealed that the thief had a woman and young child with him.

PC Henry at Cumnock police is asking anyone who can help to contact him by calling 101.
