THE Scottish Cabinet held a public discussion in Cumnock Town Hall on Monday afternoon during their visit.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon led the session, which included members of the public, Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley MSP – and Social Security Minister – Jeane Freeman and Deputy First Minister John Swinney.

They were also joined by members of East Ayrshire Council’s Children and Young People Cabinet and local school pupils as part of the discussion centred around the Year of Young People.

After the discussion the First Minister tweeted: “Thanks so much to everyone who attended the Scottish Government Cabinet Q&A in Cumnock today – a great range of questions about local, national and even some international issues.”

Cumnock and Doon Valley’s MSP Jeane Freeman also posted on the social media site, acknowledging the contribution made by the area’s young people.
