CUMNOCK and Doon Valley’s representative in Holyrood has welcomed the review into the policing of the Miners’ Strike in the 1980s.
However, Jeane Freeman – MSP for Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley – has called on the UK government to launch a full, independent review.
Commenting on the announcement, Ms Freeman said: “Representing the historic Cumnock and Doon Valley coalfields, I know too well the turmoil these strikes brought in the 80s and there are still scars and bad feelings from that period with questions that still need to be answered.”
