The fundraising efforts of Netherthird paved the way for the installation of a defibrillator at the community centre.

Volunteers from St John Scotland’s Ayrshire and Arran area have covered the majority of costs but staff at NCafe and Netherthird resident Jean Jagodowski contributed to the total.

The device was unveiled on Tuesday, June 5 and has been installed on the outside wall of the centre so it is available 24/7 for the public to use in an emergency.

Netherthird’s Margaret Campbell said: “We’re very grateful to St John Scotland in Ayrshire and Arran for providing much of the funding to help us get a defibrillator. We hope we won’t ever need to use it, but we’re all so glad it’s available in case we need it in an emergency.”

Rose-Ann Cuninghame, chairwoman of St John Scotland’s Ayrshire and Arran committee, added: “We’re delighted to have helped the community centre install the defibrillator, it will be a great asset to the local community and we’re very happy to see it installed and operational.”
