CUMNOCK will be the venue for the latest meeting of the Scottish Cabinet on Monday, June 18.

Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley MSP – and social security minister – Jeane Freeman will be joined by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and the rest of her cabinet for a full day of events in and around the town.

Members of East Ayrshire Council’s Children and Young People Cabinet and local school pupils will join the MSPs as they celebrate the Year of Young People, culminating in a public discussion at Cumnock Town Hall led by the First Minister.

Looking forward to the event, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said: “This is an opportunity for me and my Cabinet to meet local residents, community groups and businesses in Cumnock and East Ayrshire as we mark the Year of Young People.

“I would encourage everyone in the local community, but especially young people, to attend our discussion at Cumnock Town Hall. The Year of Young People 2018 is a global first and I look forward to meeting young people from Cumnock to hear about their achievements, talents and the issues that really matter to them.

“Of course people of all ages are welcome - this government is open and transparent and will take on board the thoughts and concerns of everyone living and working in the Cumnock area.”

The public discussion will run from 1.30pm to 3pm and entry free, but seats are limited and must be booked in advance.
