CUMNOCK put a large dent in GLENAFTON ATHLETIC'S hopes that they could retain their Super League Premier Division title on Saturday.

Scott Anson scored a double for 10-man Cumnock as they won 2-0 at Loch Park to leave Glens nine points adrift of leaders Kilwinning Rangers with only one game in hand.

Cumnock, however, continue to edge closer to safety as they occupy eighth spot, nine points clear of the bottom two.

There was to be no upset in Dundee as AUCHINLECK TALBOT did what Auchinleck Talbot do best. Tommy Sloan's side reached their seventh Junior Cup final in 10 seasons as they beat Lochee United 2-1 on aggregate.

They made history in the process as late goals from Dwayne Hyslop and Ross Harvey saw them overturn a first leg home defeat. They will play Hurlford United in the final on May 27 after they beat Wishaw 2-1 on aggregate.

Elsewhere, CRAIGMARK BURNTONIANS continued their promotion push as they beat Ardeer Thistle 2-0 at Station Park.

The result means that 'Mark - who sit second in the Ayrshire District League - need just 11 points from their last five games to guarantee promotion.

KELLO ROVERS led Rutherglen Glencairn 1-0 and 2-1 but couldn't hold out as they drew 2-2 at Nithside Park. However, the result means they are now 11 points clear of the bottom two in the Super League First Division with seven games to go.

LUGAR BOSWELL THISTLE'S play-off hopes hang by a thread after they lost 3-1 at home to Whitlett's Victoria.

The Jaggy Bunnets are seventh in the Ayrshire District League, 12 points clear of the relegation zone and four adrift of Whitletts who currently occupy the play-off spot.
