A PROTEST artist from Auchinleck has sent a message to UN with his latest work.

Brian Carey took to the streets of Glasgow to show support for the victims of the humanitarian crisis in Douma, Syria.

Helped by two local women, Amanda-Jane Johnstone and Faaizah Mohammed, Brian displayed the first part of his work on Thursday, April 12.

The artwork was on display in the run up to Donald Trump’s announcement of the impending bombing raids on Syria by the UK, US and France.

In response to the attack on Syria, Brian was back up in Glasgow with a second message. He took his art across the city with displays on Buchanan Street and at BBC Scotland’s head office at Pacific Quay.

Brian said: “My latest artworks were done last Thursday in the lead up to President Trump’s announcement of forthcoming attack in Syria and another in response to the attack.

“Both were done in Glasgow. They both attracted a lot of attention from members of the public. It was good to see a wide range from all ages taking an interest.

“It was met with great diversity also, from ones who wanted us, in their words, ‘to get on with it, bomb Syria to f**k and give us all peace’, and to others who said ‘they can’t believe in these days anyone should have to live in fear of being gassed to death.’

“I was helped by two young Glasgow girls who came across me and were keen to get involved as the work had connected with their feelings.”
