THE children’s diabetes team at University Hospital Crosshouse was thrilled to receive the substantial sum of £3,120 raised from the collections at this year’s Palace Theatre pantomime, Dick Whittington.

The East Ayrshire Leisure venue raises money every year in collection buckets after performances of the annual family favourite.

Jackie Livingston, a Trustee with the East Ayrshire Leisure Trust, proposed the donation to the team after her son Alex, pictured below, was diagnosed with diabetes aged six.

He loves the outdoor camp organised by the Ayrshire Children’s Diabetes Fund.

There, he can meet and play with other children who have diabetes.

Jackie said: “They’re a fantastic team.

“Nothing is too much of a problem for the staff.

“The outdoor camps are great for helping the kids to mix with others who also have diabetes and the parents feel safe in the knowledge that staff from the diabetic team are always on hand.”
