CHLOE Green was determined that her class would be going on a residential trip and set about raising funds.

The P7 pupil at Drongan Primary made and sold Christmas decorations which raised £57 towards the total cost of £240.

Her efforts gathered momentum and she continued to organise events, such as a prize bingo event which boosted the funds even more.

Then Chloe decided to hold a disco, an idea which also expanded into three spectacular dance parties — one each for the nursery children, P1-P4 and P5, 6 and 7.

Every penny raised would help finance their four-day stay at Inverclyde Residential Centre where the class would enjoy first-class facilities.

Inspired by her commitment, a group of six adults also got together to raise even more with fundraisers and grant applications.

Calling themselves the Inverclyde Committee the task force got to work, with great success, as their venture added another £1,000.

A cheque presentation ceremony took place at the school when Chloe accepted the £1,000 on behalf of the class, watched by parents, head teacher Margaret Newall and principal teacher Tom McFadzean.

Shona Woods of the Inverclyde Committee said: “By paying in advance the class was given a £50 discount, so it is only costing £190.

“The money that is left over will be put aside for next year while we were able to add to that by raising £560 at a Spring Fayre on Friday, March 23.

“Chloe did a fantastic job and I would also like to thank the businesses and community of Drongan, David Court of the parent council and all the committee.”

P7 will leave for their trip on Tuesday, May 8 and return to the school on Friday, May 11 — and get their phones back.

Shona added: “They will not have their phones on the trip and won’t be able to make contact with friends or go on social media and suchlike. It is good we were able to raise so much and will be able to keep it going next year.”
