THE team at Cumnock Action Plan are getting the community involved with a national festival of creativity — from street guerilla gardening to choir signing.

Thanks to funding from the Corra Foundation, there are grants of up to £100 available for groups in Cumnock through The Get Creative 2018 Microfund.

In turn, they will stage an event during the Get Creative Festival, which will take place between March 17 and 25...so start getting your thinking caps on and get your application in.

It may be painting by numbers, nail art, yarn bombing, come-and-try workshops, special performances/rehearsals or open days, the project’s scope is quite wide but must be Cumnock-based.

A spokesman for Cumnock Action Plan (CAP) said: “We are looking to support events that engage new participants and volunteers in a creative cultural activity.

“CAP are aiming to build an actively creative community that caters for everyone of every age, background and ability.

“The Festival aims to inspire people to try something new at home or at a Get Creative event and to encourage people to share their own examples of everyday creativity.

“Applicants to the fund must aim to recruit new volunteers, audiences and participants with applications made to cover costs such as printing publicity materials, online advertising, craft materials, tutor costs, refreshments, etc.

“Although this fund is only open to Cumnock-based groups and projects, it doesn’t mean that organisations can’t be involved in Get Creative Festival itself. Involvement in this national Festival is open to groups up and down the country.”

Funding will be allocated to informal voluntary-led, or more established constituted groups or charities, social enterprise projects or even an individual with an idea.

As well as being Cumnock-based, applicants must also meet the criteria of wanting to engage new people in creative activity.

Applications to the fund currently being accepted until the deadline of Monday, March 5, at noon.

Successful applications will be notified by Wednesday, March 7.

Forms can be downloaded from the CAP website — www.cumnockactionplan.org and can also be picked up at Cumnock Town Hall; Cumnock Library; yipworld and the Barrhill Centre.
