SCHOOLCHILDREN are having to negotiate a mudbath on their way to Muirkirk Primary every morning.
Others, including footballers, have been affected by the mess which was caused by East Ayrshire Council staff, it has been claimed.
Chronicle correspondent Jim Currie said: “Victory Park has been left in a terrible state. People were angry at the damage the workers caused but they are now raging as it looks as if the council are doing nothing to put it right.”
A spokeswoman for East Ayrshire Council said: “During the recent severe weather, our contractor had to use this area of ground to allow them to clear snow from the vicinity of the primary school.
“The damage to the ground was unavoidable due to the wet conditions and the contractor has apologised for any damage caused.
“The contractor will be returning this week, if the weather is favourable, to tramp down the ruts and spread soil to repair the area. They will then return in the spring to over-seed the area.
