PASSENGERS using Cumnock Bus Station can play their part in what the final design of the revamped terminus will look like.

Potential 3D images of what it could look like have been created as part of a public consultation which will enable people to have their say.

Also included are detailed maps which show the bus station as it is at present along with drawings of potential designs of the structure of the waiting area.

They have been released ahead of a public consultation event, to be run early in the New Year, and in conjunction with an online consultation on East Ayrshire Council’s website, which is inviting public comments until Tuesday, January 30.

Councillor Jim Roberts said: “We’re very excited about the proposals for Cumnock Bus Station and the surrounding area, and these new drawings give a better idea of just how good it could look.

“We’re using the consultation to seek the views of the public who use the station, to make sure our ideas fit with what’s actually needed and desired.

“The online questionnaire is easy and quick to fill in and every response will be noted and taken into consideration as we draw up the final plans.”

East Ayrshire Council have commissioned Smith Findlay Architects to undertake a feasibility study into the potential upgrade of the station. They have prepared a range of proposals, for which people are being urged to give their feedback, ideas and comments.

In addition to this online consultation, they are planning a public event in January/February 2018.

This will be held in the Cumnock Town Hall to allow everyone to view a full set of plans and speak to the people behind these proposals, more details to follow in the Chronicle.
