Girls and leaders from the two Brownie packs in Mauchline spent a weekend at Nether Auchendrane Guiding House, Ayr recently for a Fantastic Creatures themed pack holiday.

From crafts and games to songs around the campfire and a visit from Hoots Owls, there were lots of things to do and learn in just one weekend.

A spokeswoman for the Mauchline Brownies said: “We had a fantastic time making lots of animal/creature themed crafts, playing games and singing songs around the indoor campfire. We also went for walks, and had great fun outdoors including an outdoor scavenger hunt and toasting marshmallows to make smores. As usual we did a lot of eating.

“We had a visit from Hoots Owls on the Saturday afternoon and all of the girls had the opportunity to hold two of the owls and have an owl, Star, fly to land on their gloved hand.

“The leaders and girls of both Brownie packs in Mauchline would like to thank everyone who helped with the pack holiday, including East Ayrshire Council for their grant money and Tesco for their donation, Allan Milton for being chief cook and Andy Wilson for taking and printing the group photograph.

“We all had a great time.”
