AN ENTERPRISING fundraiser from Dalmellington puts her artistic talent to good use.

Lynn McIlwrick makes keyrings and bag charms which she sells with every penny of profit being donated to deserving causes.

Her latest venture was to donate funds to the East Ayrshire Carers Centre in Dalmellington and she managed to raise more than £300.

Despite having an ongoing kidney problem, Lynn ensures that others should benefit from her craft-making ability.

She said: “Up to now, I have also donated money to Ayrshire Hospice, Doon Valley Crafters, Patna Golf Club which is now run by the community. I have also raised funds for the Station Four at Ayr Hospital.

“The venture has really taken off. I have a social media page and there is always demand from friends and family. And the items are also sold in the Craft Shop in Dalmellington and Robertsons Vets, Maybole.”

While dedicating her skill to helping others, Lynn is also able to provide personalised items at reasonable prices.

“I am now making keyrings with personalised quotes and for special occasions such as a baby’s christening.

“They are bright and colourful and I am able to deal with requests from people — and it is all for charity.”
