ONE Cumnock woman has decided to tackle two things on her bucket list – and raise money for charity in the process.

Alison Murdoch has already climbed Ben Nevis and now she plans to take on the West Highland Way in her bid to raise £500 for the Things Tae Dae Social Hub.

The iconic achievements have been on Alison’s bucket list for a while and when the chance came, she felt she had to do something alongside them.

Alison said: “A friend and I had a bucket list and both climbing Ben Nevis and walking the West Highland Way have been on it forever. When I finally got round to it I thought it would be a great opportunity to raise money for a charity.

“I wanted to pick something local. A small charity. I asked around friends and family and people kept mentioning the Things Tae Dae Social Hub so I chose to raise money for them.

“We climbed Ben Nevis on August 5 and we do the West Highland Way two weeks on Saturday (October 7). There’s a group of 10 of us all doing it for different charities over seven days. We’re staying in hostels and lodgings so we’re not having the glamour of camping.”

Alison is well on the way to smashing her £500 target, having already raised almost £300 with three weeks still to go before she is due to complete her final challenge.

Alison didn’t know about Things Tae Dae before she embarked on her bucket list challenge but she has been very impressed by the group since she found out about them She added: “I hadn’t heard of them until I started asking around. I now follow them on Facebook and see they do fantastic work.

“Things Tae Dae is a social club for disabled adults who meet up twice a week at Cumnock Juniors and it’s all ranges of people with disabilities.

“They organise day trips/football activities, a range of things and they all look forward to it. What a great club it is. They were over the moon I chose them. Maureen, who runs it, puts in a lot of hard work.”
