A SANQUHAR couple made history by taking part in a once-in-a-lifetime event.
Ian and Lorna Johnston were lucky enough to be part of the 50,000-strong crowd selected to cross the new Queensferry Crossing.
The bridge is the longest freestanding cantilever crossing in the world, as well as Britain’s tallest bridge at 683ft tall and spanning 1.7miles.
More than 226,000 people applied to walk the bridge over the weekend of September 2 and 3, with 50,000 people successful in a ballot.
It was a glorious sunny afternoon and Ian and Lorna enjoyed this once in a lifetime walk across the new bridge.
