JOBSEEKERS are invited to head for a recruitment day in East Ayrshire which will be attended by 20 local employers.

They will be waiting to meet potential recruits of any age at a Recruitment Event at Kilmarnock’s Grand Hall on Wednesday, September 13.

The joint venture, run by East Ayrshire Council’s Economic Development Department’s Employability Service, The Department of Work and Pension’s local Job Centres, and Skills Development Scotland, takes place from 9.30am until noon, and is open to any unemployed person living in the local authority area.

Employers, including WebHelp, Sainsbury, Teleperformance, PRA Group, ICafe, The Galleon Centre, East Ayrshire Council and Billy Bowie Tankers, have current vacancies at all levels, including some apprenticeships and training opportunities and supported employment opportunities for those with additional needs.

Ballochmyle councillor, Jim Roberts, said: “We’ve been delighted with the uptake among local companies and organisations for this Recruitment Event. For anyone seeking a job, this is a great chance to come along, meet with prospective employers, find out more and even apply for current vacancies.

“We’ve got representatives from a wide range of sectors from hospitality, retail, care, and leisure, to call centres and waste management, and we’re still accepting more stalls.

“Some of these jobs offer training, while others are for experienced and fully qualified people, so it’s really worth everyone’s while to come along and see what’s on offer. We’ve run a number of these events before, with our partners and have been successful in giving people a step up on their career ladders, whatever their stage and circumstances.

“For employers, it’s a great chance to make connections, interest prospective job candidates in what they do and meet them on an informal basis. It’s all part of our mission to boost our local economy by matching well trained people with suitable jobs to help business and individuals and the wider community thrive.”
